Winds knock out power to 1,136 Carson Valley customers

Friday's dawn offered a warning of today's windy weather.

Estimates are that power will be restored to most NV Energy customers in Gardnerville and the Gardnerville Ranchos by 3:30 p.m.

According to nvenergy.com there are 60 separate outages between the two communities, with the largest single outage occurring at 1:31 p.m. affecting 713 power customers in Gardnerville.

The largest group of Ranchos customers in one outage makes up 339 customers.

Carson Valley and most of Western Nevada are under a high wind warning until 1 a.m.

The power outages coincided with a 41 mph wind gust in Fish Springs around 1:25 p.m. The winds at the fire station there have accelerated to 45 mph.

Minden-Tahoe Airport recorded a 41 mph gust at 12:55 p.m.
